Most Stylish of the Week: Hit after Hit!

MSOTW19AprA

What an amazing week! Thanks to the Cannes Film Festival and The CW Upfront we have seen some of the best fashion moments of the month.
Chris Pine, who has no need of either event, looked his usual awesome self in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label navy double breasted suit, which he very aptly accessorised with a patterned pocket square and tie. The latter's peach hue tied the outfit together paired up with the tan leather shoes.
My current style crush Austin Butler blew everyone's socks off (his own included) at the CW Upfront event. He wore a cropped pair of flecked trousers with a skinny-lapelled tux blazer over a casual henley and battered brown leather shoes. He topped it off with a pair of brilliant round specs and his usual god-like hair.
I didn't expect Justin Timberlake to make an appearance at Cannes but was happy to see him rocking a super chic ensemble in a khaki and beige colour palette. The key item was his great Belstaff oversixed cropped trench coat and his new Michael Pitt-inspired haircut.
Jamie Redknapp looked as if he had been born in his Thom Sweeney tuxedo. The ex-footballer showed everyone all the good things a bespoke suit can do for a man.
Another sportsman, Thom Evans, attended this week's Gatsby screening in London in a very dapper ensemble. His Bespoke HQ Prince of Wales double-chested suit was excellently accessorised with a stripped bow tie and blue suede slippers also by Bespoke HQ.

Wilson Bethel's olive green Gant Rugger suit was a breath of fresh air on the CW Upfront red carpet. I do admire a guy who understands the power of colour when it comes to tailoring. His tie was a bit too skinny for my taste but the tan leather belt and shoes were bang-on.
Always a rockstar dresser, Justin Theroux looked exceptional this week in a pair of skinny biker denim (by Bailmain?), which he wisely paired with a simple white tee, his signature black boots and a killer khaki varsity jacket.
Joel Edgerton debuts on the MSOTW with a double hit. The actor first landed in Cannes looking suave in an off-white Salvatore Ferragamo suit with peak lapels – degradé Way Farers and printed pocket square right on the note – and proceeded to look just as great the same evening in a 3-piece tux with velvet details also by Ferragamo.

Most Stylish of the Week: John Snow debuts with a double hit

MSOTW25Mar

First of all, let me apologise for the radio silence. Last week started out quite busy at work just before my 25th birthday on Thursday and a nice visit from a good friend for the weekend. So I had my hands full.
And the week was just as busy style-wise. Daniel Radcliffe has really become one of the sharpest dressed young actors around. His classic black and white combo by Spencer Hart for the Empire Awards, which he wore with classic Grenson lace-ups.
David Beckham wears a tracksuit bottom as easily as a three piece suit. This week he rocked a tucked-in tie to show off his football skills in China. Perfect haircut too, not much else to say.
The opening of the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A in London brought out some of the coolest guys in town who decked up in Gucci. Such was the case of Mr Hudson, who pulled off the beautiful micro print double-chested number like a pro.
Tom Hiddleston always looks elegant but I especially loved this Emporio Armani number playing with different shades of blue and featuring one of my favourite accessories – the collar pin.
My happiest moment of the week, I must admit, was Kit Harington's public (or candid) appearances. The actor looked super cool first arriving in the US in slim jeans, Chelsea boots and a blue suede bomber jacket (a man after my own heart) and then suited up in grey chinos and a black slim blazer, which he wore with black desert boots and a casual jersey polo shirt. It's less than a week now before we can see him suited up in leather and fur again on Game of Thrones!
Justin Chatwin showed this week how perfectly fitted casual clothes can sometimes be as cool as a suit. It's a pretty straight-forward look topped off by a killer haircut and an ace mustard jacket.
Speaking of good haircuts, Austin Butler was also out and about this week with this incredible hair – someone should really give him an award. There really is nothing special about his outfit but the hair is so good I thought he deserved a spot in the post.

Most Stylish of the Week: Nicholas Hoult Joins the Usual Suspects

MSOTW20Jan

It's been quite a brilliant week in style thanks to the Golden Globes and to the stylish guys doing their movie press tours. Joining the regulars to Most Stylish of the Week is Nicholas Hoult, who rocked a simple bronze Gucci suit and from whom I think we can expect some more great moments. Being tall always helps but the guy knows how to carry himself.
Robert Pattinson also chose Gucci, though a more traditional black and white number. I love the perfect fit and the ease Patz wears it with. I am missing his great hair a little but I'm sure it will be back in no time.
I watched the first episode of 'The Carrie Diaries' this weekend and I must say I can't wait to see more of Austin Butler in it. Chuck Bass is irreplaceable but I love his 70's rockstar vibes in the 80's scenario. He is just as good at pulling effortless ensembles on his daily life.
How could I not include two Eddie Redmayne looks at least? He simply can do no wrong and always strikes a perfect balance between smart and casual. The colours are always subtle but he knows a man's best friends are fit and texture.
Even though I strongly disagree with his winning Best Director at the Golden Globes, Ben Affleck has enough experience by now to look more dapper than any of the boys on the red carpet. It's nice to see he knows the power of a broad lapel and a complimentary waistcoat – everything, of course, by Gucci.

The Most Stylish Guys of 2012

MSOTW2012

I have been going through all this year's Most Stylish of the Week posts to see which guys had appeared the most. Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson and Andrew Garfield are the clear winners followed up by Eddie Redmayne, Austin Butler, Harry Styles and David Beckham.
They all appear in today's post wearing some of their best looks from December apart from Beckham, of whom I couldn't find a shot I was happy with.
We can definitely expect great on and off duty outfits from Efron, Styles and Butler, who recently rocked the most amazing leather jacket with shearling collar from All Saints – exactly the jacket I need, which is now sold out, of course.

Have I overlooked anyone you would include in the list?

Most Stylish of the Week: The Importance of Being Well Tailored

MSOTW26Oct JustJared, Style.com

It has been a great week for men's style! The highlight of the week, of course, has to be Daniel Craig decked up in Gucci giving yet another lesson on how men should have their suits cut. For the London premiere of 'Skyfall' Craig went for a classic combo but he spiced it up with a midnight blue tux jacket that made all the difference. Black and blue are a powerful weapon when it comes to evening wear.
Alan Cumming, who we can see every week looking mighty sharp on 'The Good Wife', attended the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M party in New York in a total look from the designer collaboration. The camel 3-piece suit is one of my favourites from the collection and I'm happy to see Alan kept things interesting with the faux fur coat and cream slip-on shoes also from the line.
This week Robert Pattinson finally started his press tour for the last instalment of the Twilight Saga. Instead of some of the more classic combinations we've seen him in in the past R Patz went for a head-to-toe Kenzo look, which made me very happy. I love the deep olive green shade of the suit, the Doc Martens style shoes and, above all, the amazing printed shirt. Hopefully, there is more and better to come.
Austin Butler, who is currently promoting 'The Carrie Diaries', is one of the few young Hollywood guys who understands the importance of a good suit and an even better haircut. The burgundy bowtie makes his look and the slicked back if messy hairdo tops it all off. Always invest in a good haircut!

Most Stylish of the Week: Joseph Gordon-Levitt wears McQueen

MSOTW22Sept

Just like I warned you a few days ago there is a whole lot of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (again) on this week's Most Stylish of the Week. What can I say? The guy has quite a few movies out over the next weeks and appearances on TV/red carpet/print are unavoidable. Though, to be frank, if you are not a fan of Joe you shouldn't read this blog. This week he was spotted decked down in Alexander McQueen FW12. In fact, he wore one of the numbers I blogged about recently – the checked velvet suit in iridescent brown.
Also this past week Harry Styles attended the Burberry Prorsum show in London (as did I) in his usual teenage-heartbreaker style. Even though I would advice him to pull up his jeans a little I admit I am a fan of the tieless slim shirt and blazer combo and the rock and roll Chelsea boots. It's all a bit Jamie Hince 20 years ago.
Austin Butler, whose job basically consists on looking good next to Vanessa Hudgens, did his job this week without her with a master class on how to roll up your sleeves and rock desert boots in LA.

JGL is also this week's best groomed guy. He must have got the new trim for his Flaunt magazine shoot  and it looks fantastic. It's sort of military meets 1950's, much like the one I have been sporting for the last two weeks. If you're a fan the guys over at Pankhurst London can help you get the look.

Most Stylish of the Week: It's all in the Prada tie

MSOTW05May
JustJared, Mulberry
It hasn't been a particularly good week in menswear style, though you can always trust David Beckham to bring in some effortless coolness. Always.
I want to start with Austin Butler. I have been watching his style for weeks now but can't quite decide on whether he's just another LA guy or if there is something interesting in the way he dresses. It's funny because most of what he's wearing in the picture above qualifies as things I would never wear – baseball hat, plunging neck tee, tracksuit bottoms. But I can't seem to feel like there is something cool about the way he's put them together and added a nice grey denim jacket and a pair of navy TOMS shoes. I'll keep observing and reporting back.
This week I would like to name Stefano Tonchi as best dressed. This man has made a signature style out of double-breasted blazers and neckerchiefs. But it's incredible how he always manages to look different and very current in terms of fashion. What makes this look he wore to the Mulberry dinner last night during the first day of the Frieze Art Fair in New York is the Prada tie. I posted some of them on (Fashion, Frankly's brand new) Tumblr and I am definitely getting myself one in the next couple of weeks!
Best grooming goes, once again, to Mr David Beckham. I really want to know whether someone does it for him, if it is a great cut he can sweep back with his hand or if he just wakes up looking like that in the morning.

Thoughts?
