Just when you think you've mastered how to dress for the winter Mother Nature decides to spin your world (also kind of literally) and head for spring, not without first having to endure an awkward few weeks when neither winter nor spring wear are totally apt. It's exactly for times like these that fashion bunch coined 'transitional wardrobe'.
I have inevitably failed at this way of dressing most of my life. And I did, I realise now, because of my strict self-imposed style rules, the breaking of which is the key to conquering the 'transitional look'. Three perfect examples of how to do it well came this week courtesy of Ryan Reynolds and Chris Pine.
Reynolds paired jeans and chinos with Vans Old Skool. First with a 3-quarter length checked coat worn over a shirt – worn without a jumper in between this makes a perfect transitional look. Later in the week he wore them with a v-neck cotton jumper and an indigo denim jacket – worn without a shirt or tee underneath a cotton jumper and jacket are perfect for a breezy sunny day.
Chris Pine went for a more traditional approach wearing jeans with a cotton button-down shirt and a lightweight jacket. Is is the detailing of the jacket and the well-matched double-denim that make this a hit.

The Stylish Front Row at the Burberry Prorsum FW14 Show

It's simply unarguable that the Burberry Prorsum show is the biggest of the fashion offerings during the London Collections: Men that take over the city every six months. Today, inside their now signature tent at Kensington Gardens, Christopher Bailey showed his menswear fall/winter 2014 collection to a packed room of journalists, buyers, fans and popular faces. It is the latter that always creates a big buzz, as no one manages as star-studded front row was the British icon.
My favourite guests were also the most stylish – Klaxons' James Righton, Jamie Campbell-Bower very aptly outfitted in a stunning SS14 number, and Tinie Tempah, in a killer fur-coated outerwear piece worthy of a 50's millionaire. They were joined by Callum Turner, Paloma Faith, Jack Bevan, George Barnett, Suki Waterhouse, Nick grimshaw and Dermot O'Leary amongst others. Keeping things musical, George Ezra performed a short set after the show.

Burberry unveils the 'English Rose' SS14 Campaign

Today Burberry unveils their latest global campaign following their stunning SS14 collections entitled 'English Rose'. "There is a distinctly English mood this season", says Christopher Bailey – "a gentle, effortless, romantic quality brought to life by a cast of bright young British talent". And I couldn't agree more. The new collection is full of beautiful iconic pieces made young and contemporary by means of the striking soft colour palette and unstructured designs.
The new campaign takes us back a few years to when Burberry sky-rocketed to become the leading fashion house in the UK. it does so with a new cast featuring Jamie Campbell Bower, Leo Dobson, Malaika Firth, Matilda Lowther, Neelam Johanl, Callum Ball and Jean Campbell. If you still hadn't go crazy over the SS14 collection, this should do it for you.

Best Dressed at the British Fashion Awards 2013: Oliver Cheshire, Harry Styles & Tinie Tempah

Last night, the best of the best form British Fashion donned their Sunday best to attend this year's edition of the British Fashion Awards. I was very happy to find out that some of my favourites – Burberry, Christopher Bailey, Agi & Sam, JW Anderson, had won very well-derserved awards.
To me, these type of fashion events are the perfect occasions to fashion fans and insiders to be have a bit more fun but perhaps because we're in December and it's freezing in London no one was too in the mood for this. My favourite looks of the evening were as follows.
Oliver Cheshire, a fashion scene regular, went for a shawl collar tuxedo jacket, which looked very interesting with the angular lines of his waistcoat – all by Marks & Spencer. The proportions were perfect and the hair, as usual, very cool. Harry Styles, who won British Style Icon, looked like a rockstar in a head-to-toe Saint Laurent look with a bit of sheer action happening on the shirt. It's a look we've seen before, especially on him, but it works so why not? Tinie Tempah is always one of my favourites any any kind of event. This time, the rapper wore a charcoal velvet jacket with slightly cropped black trousers and a classic b&w combination of shirt and bow tie, all by Burberry. He finished off the look with a pair of patent leather Jimmy Choo 'Mayfair' Derby shoes.

Burberry Brit Rhythm: 'White Lies' at Village Underground

Following the launch of Burberry Brit Rhythm, which I wrote about last month, the British power house presented the first of their 'Three Gigs, Three Cities, Three Nights' series celebrating the fragrance with three live gigs around the world.
The first took place on Wednesday at Village Underground in London, where White Lies performed a brilliant set of 9 songs in the coolest concert venue in Shoreditch. I had really been looking forward to it not only because I had heard great things of White Lies' live performances but because I very much needed a mid-week break.
Amongst the very cool-yet-chilled crowd mostly outfitted in black leather as if we all had got a memo were George Barnett, who as face of the fragrance was wearing a Burberry biker jacket (the one from my dreams!) and Suki Waterhouse, also featured in the campaign. Models, musicians, editors and socialites all mingled and enjoyed the great performance – backed up by an awesome lighting design and followed by an incredible DJ set by Gary Powell, who had us shaking it for way past our bedtime on a school night.
The gig culminated with a Brit Rhythm-shaped confetti rain, which turned the crowd into excited kids and spread the new scent (I was wearing it anyway) across the room.

Introducing... Burberry Travel Tailoring

Today sees the launch of Burberry's latest menswear line 'Travel Tailoring'. Continuing on the brand's perfect marriage of tradition and innovation, the new collection proposes classic tailored silhouettes created in a lightweight and comfortable fabric which follows the movement of the body allowing for increased flexibility.
All of the new tailoring is made from a new cloth, 100% Merino wool, developed in Biella, Italy. The long yarn of the material woven in a 'spring-like' structure on an extra large loom, which increases flexibility and reduces the creasing while maintaining its structure – hence why it's perfect for travelling.

Travel Tailoring is available in a slim fit in the traditional navy, mid grey, dark grey melange and, my favourite, the mid grey melange palette. It is also available in a number of petters such as Herringbone and Price of Wales Check (!) and it starts off at £1,195, which is actually a very competitive price for a designer two-piece suit. The new style is already available to buy online at Burberry.com




The most notable innovation is the motion canvas construction with fewer internal components. The chest canvas and shoulders contains no wadding and fewer layers while traditionally "while traditionally used horsehair canvassing extends to the shoulder, anchoring the jackets' shape and creating a sharp silhouette."

Burberry Launches Brit Rhythm, The New Fragrance for Men

What better way to get back on the blogging wagon after my holiday than with some great Burberry news. This month sees the launch of the newest menswear fragrance by the powerhouse – Brit Rhythm. I am yet to try the new scent but I am already intrigued by its innovative concept. The #ThisIsBrit concept finds its inspiration in music, one of the pillars of the modern Burberry. George Barnett – frontman of These New Puritans – and Suki Waterhouse star in the multi-platform campaign that proves to be yet another step ahead for the brand. Through Burberry's website and Facebook page, fans all over the world can sign up for samples in the shape of scented temporary tattoos shaped like the Brit Rhythm bottle. By signing up for these tattoos, users will be entering a prize draw to attend one of three live music events held in London, New York and Singapore next October. During these events Burberry will work with leading Instagram photographers and private users to create original content during each of the gigs.
Pushing the envelope even further, Burberry is partnering with Noisey – a music, editorial and experience-led imagery and video platform from VICE Media – launching later this month.
If this wasn't enough, a capsule collection centred around Burberry's iconic leather jacket (#wishlist) also featuring classic trenches, aviators and a satchel bag will complete this multi-dimensional campaign.

Make sure to request your Brit Rhythm tattoo (I know I am) and check out the rock chic video campaign below. After all this all I have left to do is wait to try the heart of black leather, heady patchouli and styrax resin, the notes of basil verveina, spicy cardamom and the shot of juniper berries that make up the new Brit Rhythm.

Harry Styles wears Burberry to the Premiere of "One Direction: This is Us"

Yesterday evening London saw mobs of hysterical teenage (and slightly older) girls in pilgrimage to Leicester Square, where the premiere of the "One Direction: This is Us" film was going to take place. I must confess even I got a little excited when I heard the boys rehearse at the downstairs studio from my office. It's no secret that I am a big fan of Harry Styles' style – or Harry's Style, it's so confusing. And I knew that for such an occasion the signer would look his best.
For the premiere Harry donned a Burberry Prorsum heart-print shirt. You might remember we already saw Styles rocking this shirt back in February for his 19th birthday. This time he opted for the black version, which he paired with a slim tailored jacket also from Burberry. His signature black skinny jeans, battered leather belt and suede boots completed his look. And it looks like he's finally learnt that moving on from your 16-year-old hair style is the most important step a man takes growing up.

Most Stylish of the Week: Ashton Kutcher's & Jason Sudeikis Double Hit

After last week's great week in style I was afraid this past one would be much slower. But I couldn't have been more wrong.
I am yet to be convinced of Ashton Kutcher's skills in his portrayal of Steve Jobs but if there's one thing the actor's got down is his style. My favourite of his two best looks this week is a navy Rag & Bone suit, which he wore with a Pickwick & Weller white t-shirt half tucked in. These alone would have been a great call so when you add a printed pocket square, orange belt and tan lace-ups the result is what is (possibly) the best look of the week. A few days earlier Ashton had rung the New York Stock Exchange bell in a Burberry number. I loved the maroon suit, which looked classic but very much stylish paired with a lavender shirt and a striped tie that tied together both colours perfectly.
I hope I can be as sharp and cool as Jason Sudeikis when I grow up. This week the actor made a few appearances around NYC. The first, in a great casual-and-smart look I couldn't identify more with. He gave it his own personal spin with a pair of baby blue 'Do The Right Thing' Air Jordan 3 retro sneakers. Day later he dropped by the Jay Leno show and nailed a more classic tailored look. I am specially keen on the tie clip and the socks.
James Marsden seems to be on a roll. This week he wore a Dolce & Gabbana brown suit with a micro print contrast shirt. I think the fit of the trousers is simply perfect, though I wish he would have gone for more interesting accessories.
Debuting this week on the Most Stylish of the Week is Liev Schreiber. The actor attended the premiere of 'The Butler' in a navy suit cut with absolute precision for his shape. I like the fact that he avoided wearing a tie and how he used tan leather accessories. If you are going to go for such a classic look you better make sure everything fits like a glove.
Gabriel Mann always dresses well for his public appearances and, what's most important, he tries different things. I wouldn't say this look is a go-to for anyone but it works great on him. The key to pulling off a bow-tie in a subtle way is to make sure the colour isn't loud and the shape never reaches your jacket's lapels.

Item of the Week: Burberry Prorsum Polo Shirt with Leopard Badge

I knew from the first moment I saw these polo shirts at the Burberry showroom in Milan last January that this was going to be one of the pieces to own from the Burberry FW13 commercial collection.
This week the first of the models in black has been released online at Mr Porter. The classic polo features a three-button closure at the neck, which goes down a little lower than your average polo shirt. But the key feature other than the great fit is the leopard print pony skin heart badge on the chest, which ties in with Burberry's FW13 collection influences.

He's Fly: Joel Kinnaman

This weekend I watched 'Easy Money' and 'Easy Money II' – aka 'Snabba Cash' and 'Snabba Cash II' – the first two parts of a Swedish-film trilogy which comes to an end later this year. I've been a fan of Swedish cinema for quite some time now as I am fascinated by the culture and lifestyle of the country.
In the centre of the three films is Joel Kinnaman, a Swedish-American actor you might have also seen in 'The Killing'.
Just famous fellow countrymen Alexander and Bill Skarsgard, Kinnaman has been favoured with the viking genes of height and style. The latter is an essential part of his character in 'Easy Money' and also of his personal life. As you might expect, his is a minimal approach – lots of navy and grey suits worn with classic shirts and plain skinny ties for the red carpet and a sportier approach of denim shirts, chinos and leather bomber jackets for off-duty. His motto is to only add a statement piece to any outfit, whether it is a luxe jacket or a printed pocket square.
This and, I'm sure, his killer hair won him the spot as the face of the H&M FW12 menswear campaign, which was launched alongside a (slightly non-sensical) beautifully shot short movie set in London.

Burberry Prorsum SS14: 'Writers and Painters'

I would like if I said I wasn't terribly excited as I walked down the path leading to the grassed field where Burberry had set up their open air tent at Perk's Field. I was hoping for a huge show with live music and unexpected effects (it rained once before, after all) but I was happily surprised by a cool and understated catwalk show instead. Thinking about it afterwards, it made sense for menswear to be more sober. Needless to say, the guest list was packed with familiar faces and the music, as usual, spot-on.
'Writers and Painters' was the title that Christopher Bailey had given to a SS14 collection inspired by David Hockney and Alan Bennett. The artistic and intellectual spirit was made evident by the relaxed silhouettes – low shoulder lines and unstructured on the outerwear, which contrasted with the brand's usual sharp tailoring. It was perhaps one of Burberry's most wearable collections of the last few years, anyone could easily wear any of the pieces off the runway.
Two of the big focuses were the lightweight materials such as silks and linens and the use of knitwear and shirts as outerwear.  I particularly loved the chunky ultra soft knits in baby blue and red and the work jackets, which were perfect for a chic bohemian look. Blues and greys appeared everywhere but also camel, olive, terracotta and white. My personal favourites were the dusty greens, yellows and pinks, perfect for any season. Bailey has devised all the elements that make his collection in a way that makes them versatile so you can wear them at the end of the winter when the collection hits stores and all through the (British) summer.
The coloured suede and deck shoes, striped ties, patterned sunglasses and soft leather bags were some of the accessory highlights. All statement pieces and classics at once – something any man should always be looking for to stock up his wardrobe.
As it's become the norm, Burberry is offering fans around the world the option to pre-order most of the outwear and accessories now through their website and at Burberry stores, where buyers can personalise the items where their initials. Making every piece even more special.

The Front Row at the SS14 Burberry Prorsum Show in London

The grand tent Burberry built on Perk's Field for their homecoming menswear show felt like a very cool slightly old-school garden party, which worked fantastically with the collection Christopher Bailey showed yesterday afternoon. And, as it could be expected, the had an excellent turnout.
The LC:M current ambassador David Gandy and his successor Dermot O'Leary were both in attendance. As were Burberry front row usuals Tinie Tempah – in a SS13 giraffe print t-shirt – and Douglas Booth, who was the lucky one to be wearing SS14. Talk about fashion-forward!
Jamie Campbell Bower and Max Chilton looked effortlessly cool, as did Bolin Chen – in my favourite heart-print shirt – and Greg James, who was attending his second Burberry menswear show this season.
My favourite front-row-ers were, without a doubt, Finn and Jack Harries. I have been following the vloggers for over a year now and I'm so happy to see them attending LC:M events and shows. They have recently hit 2 million subscribers on YouTube and I expect their followers to keep growing. This is yet another genius move from Burberry, which shows their excellent understanding and awareness of new media and its influence.

Derek Blasberg ♥'s Burberry

This morning I received my invite for Burberry's first menswear show in London, which takes place on Tuesday as part of the London Collections: Men. Needless to say, this is always one of my personal highlights, one of the best collections and always the best show.
Earlier this week Derek Blasberg Intagrammed a picture of him wearing that heart printed shirt we all want in our wardrobes this season. You might remember Harry styles was the first to wear it in public last February and, of course, I had already raved about it plenty both on my recap of the FW13 show and on the post of my visit to the showroom in Milan.

Burberry menswear comes back home to London

As I read Robin Mellery Pratt's article yesterday on BoF I couldn't help but get very excited about the upcoming London Collections: Men – as Shortlist very well pointed, out no one calls it.
But even more so than excited I am proud that London is taking back something that belongs in this city that had been the centre of tailoring for such a long time.
After only a year since LC:M launched this season's schedule looks pretty impressive. One of the highlights is, of course, the return of Burberry menswear to London. To celebrate the occassion in anticipation of their upcoming SS14 show next Tuesday, the brand has released this video.
Burberry has also announced that they will continue with their global live streams and their 'Runway Made to Order' service, which they introduced for womenswear in February. We will now be able to purchase coats and accessories personalised and delivered within 8 weeks.
The brand also continues with their forward-thinking and unique social media strategy on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Google+ and Vine, where they will release different content leading up to, during and after the show. A new introduction is the live stream of the show on Twitter!
It will be an event not to be missed and no matter where you are or what you're doing, you can follow it!

How to Wear the White Suit, Inspired by Bradley Cooper

I have always had an allergy of sorts to all-white clothing. I hardly ever wear white jeans or chinos and I've never put on a white blazer or jacket because this seemingly common colour can make a bigger statement than any bold hue. It is also incredibly unforgiving – if not beautifully cut, washed, ironed and fit it will only enhance everything you would like to conceal. Not to mention very few men could pull it off even with all of the above ticked.
Even though Bradley Cooper isn't exactly an every-day man – as much as I'd like to I can't quite relate to him – his latest red carpet offering in a full white suit with cuffed trousers worn with classic blue notes and leather shoes has awaken something in me to make me dare and try this look. The first step is to find a slim-fitted suit (baggy white clothes read retired holidaymaker). Keep the lines very simple and avoid any fussy detailing and pair them up with classic pieces put together in a modern way.
Of the options available online I feel most inclined to try the more casual takes as proposed by ASOS or Valentino, which I would wear with any of the pieces below.

Presenting Burberry Spark

Christopher Bailey's passion for British music is no secret. Singers and band members have often graced the Burberry advertising campaigns and the show's front rows. Their music accompanies the latest collections down the runway and, lately, live performances take place at the brand's beautiful retail spaces – i.e. last week's Kaiser Chiefs gig – and even take the shape of surprise micro-concerts during the catwalk presentations.
This season the Chief Creative Officer has found inspiration in British music for Burberry's latest eyewear collection – a stunning bright and colourful line of sunglasses and opticals in bi-colour combinations in-trend with this season's offerings but always with a modernity and timelessness only Burberry can achieve.
The new campaign features three bands Burberry is introducing this season: Coastal Cities, The Night VI and Broken Hands. A track from each band along with super cool videos recorded on set in London serve as the campaign, which also features beautiful editorial shots from members of all three bands.
Keen an eye out for the super cool new shades and remember to have a listen at the bands' singles (click on their names above), they're the ones to watch!

Damian Lewis wears Burberry Tailoring on 'Desire', the latest film by Jaguar

Yesterday I shared the latest short film by Jaguar on Fashion, Frankly's Facebook and Twitter. I was as excited about the F-TYPE model the car icon was promoting as I was about the stars of the film – Shannyn Sossamon (remember her?), Jordi Mollà and Damian Lewis. The latter looks as sharp as ever in an immaculate grey suit worn with a crisp white shirt and a skinny burgundy tie, all by Burberry – how could it be any different?. All topped off with a slick hairdo that would make Don Draper proud.
Damian has been wearing Burberry to pretty much every event he has attended in the last few months, which is fantastic as we need more stylish men showing the world about true British menswear style.
The film, by Ridley Scott Associates, is incredibly stylish, entertaining and fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which fashion films often do. And the result is excellent – take a look below!
