Most Stylish of the Week: Ashton Kutcher's & Jason Sudeikis Double Hit

MSOTW11Aug

After last week's great week in style I was afraid this past one would be much slower. But I couldn't have been more wrong.
I am yet to be convinced of Ashton Kutcher's skills in his portrayal of Steve Jobs but if there's one thing the actor's got down is his style. My favourite of his two best looks this week is a navy Rag & Bone suit, which he wore with a Pickwick & Weller white t-shirt half tucked in. These alone would have been a great call so when you add a printed pocket square, orange belt and tan lace-ups the result is what is (possibly) the best look of the week. A few days earlier Ashton had rung the New York Stock Exchange bell in a Burberry number. I loved the maroon suit, which looked classic but very much stylish paired with a lavender shirt and a striped tie that tied together both colours perfectly.
I hope I can be as sharp and cool as Jason Sudeikis when I grow up. This week the actor made a few appearances around NYC. The first, in a great casual-and-smart look I couldn't identify more with. He gave it his own personal spin with a pair of baby blue 'Do The Right Thing' Air Jordan 3 retro sneakers. Day later he dropped by the Jay Leno show and nailed a more classic tailored look. I am specially keen on the tie clip and the socks.
James Marsden seems to be on a roll. This week he wore a Dolce & Gabbana brown suit with a micro print contrast shirt. I think the fit of the trousers is simply perfect, though I wish he would have gone for more interesting accessories.
Debuting this week on the Most Stylish of the Week is Liev Schreiber. The actor attended the premiere of 'The Butler' in a navy suit cut with absolute precision for his shape. I like the fact that he avoided wearing a tie and how he used tan leather accessories. If you are going to go for such a classic look you better make sure everything fits like a glove.
Gabriel Mann always dresses well for his public appearances and, what's most important, he tries different things. I wouldn't say this look is a go-to for anyone but it works great on him. The key to pulling off a bow-tie in a subtle way is to make sure the colour isn't loud and the shape never reaches your jacket's lapels.

Most Stylish of the Week: How to do Tailoring in the Summer

MSOTW30June

Despite Paris Fashion Week being in full blast, it was a slow week for menswear. Thankfully, Johnny Depp and Lapo Elkann decided to make appearances, which kept the week interesting.
I am such a big fan of Gabriel Mann's off-screen style. He does preppy like a master. This week he went for a casual look pairing a light chambray blazer with a subtle turquoise button-down shirt, white shorts (perfect length), and striped slip-ons. This is what you should be wearing to summer parties.
Patrick Schwartzenegger always looks good off-duty but it's nice to see he's also got the red carpet under control. Even though it's not the most original of looks, his grey suit and tie-less done-up shirt look modern and age-appropriate.
With his second hit in a row, Johnny Depp rocked a Ralph Lauren pinstripe double-breasted suit in brown (!), which he wore with an open collar white shirt and his usual paraphernalia as accessories. I am not too keen on the length of the trousers but Depp doesn't play by the rules so it works.
Lapo Elkann made two appearances this week – both for Gucci. The entrepreneur and style icon first wore an olive green double-breasted number with orange notes and incredible shoes to the Gucci show. He was then spotted in a slick beige look with an open collar white shirt which gave it vintage vibes.
King of rock-and-roll style Justin Theroux looked his usual fly self in an all black outfit with a buttoned up black polo shirt, black skinny jeans and his signature battered boots and classic aviators.
Also with his second hit in a row, Armie Hammer makes the cut in a chambray Gant suit. The look was modern and cool and was finished off with Ray Ban WayFarers, a spread collar shirt, Tom Ford knit tie and printed pocket square.

Most Stylish of the Week: James Franco gets his star in Gucci

MSOTW11Mar

Let me first apologise of the delay of this post. I was planning on publishing it last night but I was too tired. I spent the weekend with some friends in Madrid and I had the misfortune of losing my iPhone on the first day, which means I couldn't even Instagram my adventures in the city...
I love the fact that most of the guys in this post are not the usual faces of the MSOTW posts! Cory Monteith, perhaps the most unexpected one, is one of the highlights. His airport look of casual jeans and hoodie paired with a cropped khaki peacoat is simple and very chic. Grey, blue and khaki is my favourite colour combination.
Jayson Blair should go to events more often. The actor was spotted at the Chateau Marmont in LA wearing a combination of smart and casual items – velvet blazer, unbuttoned white shirt, jeans and  beige suede shoes. Effortlessly great.
I'm always happy to see Gabriel Mann on the red carpet because his style in 'Revenge' very much annoys me. In real life he is a preppy yet sharp dresser, much after my own heart. This week he took some marine inspiration for his Breton striped shirt paired with a gold-buttoned navy blazer and tie and just-so rolled-up jeans.
Ryan Reynolds rocked Prince of Wales checked trousers like a pro, which he wore with battered black All Stars, a simple V-neck jumper and – my favourite – a Gant Rugger beige jacket from the SS13 collection. Talk about understated elegance.
James Franco looked dashing in Gucci this week as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I loved how contemporary the classic suit looked thanks to the mix of shades of blue. And I was particularly pleased to see him in brown suede Gucci Horsebit loafers as the iconic shoes are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year – check out the whole collection here.

Most Stylish of the Week: Liam Hemsworth & Ryan Reynolds nail airport chic

MSTW2dec

This week I've finally managed to put together a Most Stylish of the Week post without any of the usual suspects, which is refreshing.
Liam Hemsworth's style seems to have improved a lot in the last few months. This week he looked relaxed and stylish at the airport in a flecked jumper and a vintage canvas bag that had slight David Beckham vibes.
It's funny how Gabriel Mann's character in 'Revenge' is to unfashionably preppy but his off-scren style is so sharp, almost edgy. This week the actor gave another lesson in 'less is more' with an all-black look, which he made interesting adding a shawl collar grey cardigan and penny loafers.
Ryan Reynolds is a few years ahead of Hemsworth and it shows. His colour combinations and accessorising are fashionable but subtle and manly. It's all about the man-foulard.
Back on Tuesday at the British Fashion Awards I was in absolute awe of Erdem Moralioglu's evening look. The designer dresses himself with the same elegance and taste that he does women. It was a very classic number that fitted perfectly and I am always appreciative of a colourful sock.
Valentino Garavani was in town this week for the opening of this exhibition, Valentino: Master of Couture, at Somerset House. He's not only a legendary designer but also an Italian so he knows how to look sharp. In this look below I am loving the fur lapels of the coat and the rich detailing of this Jimmy Choo gold paisley-embroidered velvet slippers.
Flynn Bloom – Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom's son – is not the first toddler to appear on a MSOTW post but his style easily beats Benjamin Brady's. If at 1 I'm already jealous of his jumper, imagine what his style is going to be like in 20 years.

Most Stylish of the Week: Olympic torches, camo & tuxedos

MSOTW27Jul12

I never thought I would be posting about any Olympic-related fashions but Mark Ronson had to show up yesterday at Hyde Park to prove me wrong. He wore a multicolour tee from Jil Sander's SS11 collection, one of my favourite ever. He paired it with white skinny suit trousers, red socks and white lace-ups. I'm not a fan of white leather shoes but they somehow work. Though, I must say, what makes the whole look work is the sharp haircut. I'm glad Ronson has put his gel quiff days behind him.
Kevin McHale's Glee character is so dorky and unstylish that he always overcompensates on his public appearances. This time he rocked a daring combination that wouldn't have worked on many people. The geometric lines of the black and white colour block shirt contrasted with the sinuous lines of his camo trousers and the modern brogues tied the look together. I am seriously impressed but I still think he needs a good trim more suited to his age.
This week's episode of 'Suits' was such a treat. Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams dressed up in the slickest tuxedos. I very much enjoyed the fact that they were perfectly suited to their characters – a broad-lapelled jacket, muted shirt buttons and conservative bow tie for Harvey and a skinny lapel, black buttons and textured statement bow tie for Mike. This show never disappoints.

And we also had two big grooming hits. The first from Gabriel Mann. After two seasons of dreadful hairstyles on 'Revenge' he's gone for a stylish slightly wavy and more trendy cut that suits him much better. He's also proving he knows how to highlight his guns with perfect-fitting tops.
Brandon Flowers is finally back with The Killers and their new single 'Runaways' is out. For the song's new video he's sporting an edgy new trim – tightly shaved sides and quite longer on top. Once again, a killer look (ha!) that no one else will be able to pull off.
