The Summer of Denim

TheSummerofDenim

I spent part of my Sunday evening clearing out my computer folders. Over the years I've piled up a lot of editorial and street style images and I like to go through them every once in a while to keep the ones I still like after years and get rid of the rest.
With hundreds of pictures gone it was pretty clear that I always have been very drawn to denim. Yes, we all wear jeans pretty often but I do genuinely never leave the house without denim on my back. Luckily for me the experts (?) predict this summer to be very denim-based even encouraging us to go for the much-dreaded double-denim, which I've actually always loved.
There are two ways of wearing denim. The first, to include only one piece, be it jeans, a jacket, a shirt (chambray counts) or even this season trendy piece – the work jackets. Oxford shirts, blazers and cardigans are much welcome for combinations. Especially in white, black and beige or, my two favourite, khaki and navy.
The second, less safe, way is to double your denim. You can hardly go wrong by wearing your blue jacket with your grey or black jeans, or vice versa  (see Fig.1) – you need to really suck to make this look bad. But it becomes trickier when playing with different shades of blue. My personal advise is to keep washes classic. Avoid too many sand shades and and crotch side lines and try for either the jeans or the jacket to be a tad darker than the other (see Fig. 2)

I bought my new favourite pair of classic jeans recently in Paris by my current favourite brand AMI. They have a slight air of 80's, which gives outfits a really easy feel. For a denim jacket I would recommend All Saints. Their slim (not tight) fits and timeless washes make them perfect to go with you through the year. But for the picture below I chose a Levi's Vintage Clothing style with some very cool distressed detailing.

Milan Fashion Week SS15 Diary - Day 1

MilanFashionWeekSS15Day1

After over a year of missing the Milanese shows, I am so happy to be back in one of my favourite cities in the world to enjoy a bit of menswear fashion (and work a lot!). I arrived here yesterday, which was a fun but incredibly tiring day as I woke up at 4.30am to head to Heathrow.
Once in Milan, the warm weather and great vibe really got me going. After sorting through invites, I was thrilled to open a little something from Tod's to help me get through fashion week in style. After an early afternoon meeting it was time for the MSGM show, which is probably the best young brand in Milan. Massimo Giorgetti has this amazing ability to mix a bit of traditional Italian fashion with the really cool street style influences they have going here. It was a pleasure to watch.
I walked back to my hotel to enjoy a bit of sunshine and grabbed a quick lunch in my room catching up with emails before heading out for some more meetings. I stayed fresh in the Milanese summer with my new Folk short sleeve shirt, which I wore with blue NN.07 jeans and my Kenzo x Vans sneakers. I finished the day with a movie and a bit of room service and hit the sack early to recover energy for the busy week ahead!

Wooster + Lardini Launch their Collaboration at Pitti Uomo 86

Luigi Lardini e Nick Wooster

It isn't an easy feat for a man to achieve a signature personal look – a uniform if you will – that while being subtle, manly and appropriate allows you to stand out from the crowd. And this is exactly why guys like Nick Wooster gather what is almost like a cult following. His distinctive combinations of suit shorts with perfectly tailored jackets and polished shoes together with his graphic tattoos and grey moustache make him impossible to overlook.
For the SS15 season, the iconic Wooster has partnered with Italian brand Lardini  to create a capsule collection of pieces that play with the traditional and the very much contemporary. Classic menswear colours like grey, khaki, olive and navy cover lined and unlined jackets and trousers in anything from a slim and straight fit to a dropped crotch and a ghurka.
The collection is a masterful game of fabrics and detailing bringing together Wooster's clinical eye and Lardini's tailoring knowhow to deliver raw and understated pieces I, for one, could not have even dreamed of.

Look of the Day: LCM Spring/Summer 2015 Day 2

LCMss15lookday2

Today I mixed a bit of work with a bit of menswear collections, which was a good way to start a Monday. The British weather wasn't quite on our side today either, a bit of chilly wind and grey skies made me go for some more layering.
With a white Uniqlo Oxford shirt and black Acne jeans as a base, I added a bit of colour with my L'Estrange Liberty Black Paisley hoodie and my U Adolfo Dominguez parka. Topping it off, of course, were my powder blue desert boots by Clarks (perfect also for walking around a lot) and my starred Gant socks.
Stay tuned for the last of my London looks and a recap of my favourite shows!

Look of the Day: LCM Spring/Summer 2015 Day 1

LCMss15day1look

The latest edition of the London Collections: Men kicked off in London today. I had to cut my day a little shorter than expected but still managed to catch most of my favourite shows of the day – Hardy Amies and Agi & Sam were two of my personal highlights.
It was a grey and slightly chilly day in London so I went for a bit of layering with my look of the day. I paired my brand new Clarks suede shoes with casual Levi's jeans. I kept everything a bit monochromatic with a grey loopback jumper from Uniqlo, a blue striped shirt from Ralph Lauren and added some contrast with a lightweight navy seersucker blazer from Uniqlo and my super chic new Bailey Nelson sunglasses.
It was the perfect start to the new season. Follow me on Instagram from more daily updates straight from LCM!
