Most Stylish of the Week: Spidey Garfield is on the move

This week Andrew Garfield finally started his press tour for 'The Amazing Spiderman' in Asia. As a good Briton, Garfield has pretty much done his thing on the red carpet. And quite successfully. He also has great hair, which really does help.
I don't know if it was his great fashion choices but he seems to be having a ball at the moment. Some of his hits included a colourful checked shirt paired with green chinos and a Phillip Lim biker jacket, a burgundy number worn with grey, and an incredible Alexander McQueen striped jumper worn with a chambray shirt and beige chinos. I would commit crimes for this jumper.

Alex Pettyfer has also started his press tour for this film called 'Magic Mike', where a bunch of really famous actors spend all their time stripping. We won't be seeing most of them making much of a fashionable effort but Pettyfer and Matt Bomar will make up for it. So far, we've got a chic and simple number that would have made anyone look like a girly art teacher but looked dapper on Alex.
Joshua Bowman is one of the new kids in the block. Even though he is been around for a few months – mostly snogging Miley Cyrus and more recently Emily Vancamp – we haven't seen much of his style until these last few days at the Monte Carlo TV Festival. He needs a lesson in rolling up trousers but he can pull off a short-sleeve shirt so I forgive him.
And, of course, Zac Efron. He is wearing the same trousers and sunnies I posted about earlier this week but it was a pretty different look. He wore them with a faded khaki shirt (I want!) and khaki sneakers. This is, gentleman, the perfect palette for the summer. Take note.

Neil Barrett & Phillip Lim: Dip dye face off

NEILvsLIM

I am currently on shirt-buying mode. For the last two weeks I have been incessantly looking at all my favourite e-tail websites trying to find the best buys for this summer. I am usually a very basic guy when it comes to shirts because I've always been afraid of buying pieces with "too much character" that I will get bored of.
However, I always tend to do the opposite in the summer. Since men's summer attire is reduced to a tee/polo/shirt and shorts I try to make an effort injecting my outfits with something interesting. But so far I have been terribly unlucky. Yesterday I ventured into the world of Top Man on Oxford Circus and tried on lots of shirts I loved but the fit was so off – screw you skinny tall British men.
So I have gone back to the original strategy of looking online. I might end up spending more money but it'll definitely be worth it! One of my latest finds I am still debating on is 3.1 Phillip Lim's dip dye shirt, which I find very chic. The only con I can think of os the fact it's short sleeved.
While looking some more I found this other Neil Barrett shirt from last season. I don't like the reversed dip dye effect as much but it's long sleeved.

What do you think?

Most Stylish of the Week: Le denim c'est chic

Even though this is the second week that I make this 'Most Stylish of the Week' post I can already tell you that a lot of the men in it as well as last week's will most likely be appearing week after week. While some women can be a little hit-and-miss it seems like a stylish men tends to always be stylish – and I mean this with the outmost respect for womenswear.
This week there is a bit of a mix of smart looks, casual looks and hybrid looks. Freddie Fox, decked up in Emporio Armani, attended the Olivier Awards looking elegant and cool. I love the classic combo of dark suit and white shirt with the touch of the knit tie and the silver tie pin, which give everything a modern touch
Phillip Lim, who is one of the best dressed designers ever, made a perfect mixture of cropped battered jeans and t-shirt (the casual) and a stunning double-chested blazer and a pair of patent leather boots (the smart) – it was just incredibly chic.
Even though it's hard to see what David Beckham is wearing in the picture I decided to include him because I love the checked shirt with the white round collar detail but, mostly, because of his haircut. He has taken a bit shorter (for the summer, I assume) and there is no better accessory to a look than sharp hair.
Kris Allen, of whom I didn't know much, performed on American Idol wearing one of the most perfect denim jackets I have seen in a while. It's the classic Levi's 501 colour and just the right fit. I myself have a very similar one I found at a vintage store and got altered and there is no better piece for the summer, especially if you know how to work double denim.
And last on the list is Robert Downey Jr, who is currently on his press tour for The Avengers. This time he went for a Vivienne Westwood (?) checked suit I couldn't possibly like more paired with a print bow tie, suede sneakers and his signature ombré shades. Only one flaw – get those trousers taken up, yes?

Clever adds to the summer wardrobe

Every August I'm faced with the same dilemma of whether to buy summer items for sale or save my money to start gearing up for the autumn. Having a look at the designer clothes on sale there seem to be a bunch of things that aren't necessarily seasonal and that we can wear now but also into next season. Jumpers and long-sleeved shirts are obvious choices but things like suits or blazers might seem trickier. A blazer works amazingly over a t-shirt with rolled-up sleeves but they can also be winter jackets over a jumper. A suit with shorts is a very clever choice as you can wear both pieces together or separately and still use the jacket in the winter. Suede accessories are also useful picks because they look chic in the summer and cozy in the winter. Do remember to buy season-less colours, though. And, finally, canvas bags can be worn all year around, so they're worth investing on. I have last year's design of the YSL bag (which looks better than the new one and explains the ridiculous price of the latter) and I use it to go to class, work, travel and go to the pool.
