How to Wear Neon Sneakers, by Harry Styles
When I bought my black pair of Nike Free Run +3 shoes a few months ago I went for such a boring classic colour because I couldn't figure out in my mind how to wear neon details without looking like the traffic police. Instead, I went for the bolder version of the New Balance Backpack sneakers I wanted, which I can add to pretty much any outfit I wear.
This week Harry Styles was spotted out in New York City in a pair of the same Nike Free Run +3 in neon yellow. The signer paired them up with his signature black skinny jeans rolled up, a plain white tee and a striped green shirt. The great thing about the casual look is that it elevated the shoes from sportswear to a more urban feel keeping the outfit modern and interesting.
Sadly, I could only find the shoes available online at ebay but I'm sure you might still be able to find them at stores before the sales finish.

Living in London with Capital One Aspire World
As you will remember, I already posted about my first experiences with my new Capital One Aspire World card during my stay in Milan for fashion week. And I thought it was only fair to talk about my thoughts after using it for two months.
The truth is I am extremely pleased with the entire process. As I mentioned last time, the Aspire World card gives 5% cashback every month for the first three months. This sounds great in abstract but is even better in reality! On my first month I got £50 cashback, which is pretty amazing because I essentially paid that much less than I actually spent!
It is also extremely easy to pay back your monthly balance. If, like me, you choose not to set up a direct debit you can either pay over the phone – to the very helpful and nice customer services team – or you can do it yourself online. Also online you can keep track of your expenditure and balance. But even better is the Capital One iPhone app! You can literally check your account anywhere, anytime. For someone like me who often forgets to check these things at home the Capital One app is a life-saver!
After Milan and the great first experience with the cashback I came to the conclusion that it was actually better to use my Aspire World card for all my daily payments – whether it is a dinner, drinks, takeaway, a new pair of shoes or jeans, a new book or magazine or my weekly groceries. If you keep your debit card usage only for taking cash out you'll find this system pays off!
Here is a bit of what I've been up to with my "black card".

I'm not Frank: What I Wore in Milan, Day 1
Fashion, Frankly
I really tried to make an effort to try and get pictures of what I was wearing during the days that I recently spent in Milan. However, I didn't make it past the first day.
On Saturday, to kick things off, I wore my Gant Rugger tweed blazer, Nudie Jeans, Uniqlo shirt, Grenson shoes, Jil Sander tie and Urban Outfitters scarf. It was freezing in Milan and I wasn't wearing a coat but the combination of tweed, scarf and tough shoes didn't make me miss it.

Wardrobe Staples, Jewellery & Chace Crawford this week at Mr Porter
Clockwise from left: Nudie slim organic jeans, Foundwell sterling silver bracelet, Foundwell engraved sterling silver tie pin,
Turnbull & Asser pyjama set, Maison Martin Margiela sweatshirt, Miansai anchor bracelet, Maison Martin Margiela coated black jeans,
If you put together all of this week's additions on Mr Porter you would have quite a complete selection of wardrobe staples that will work with your seasonal pieces year on year. It also included a pretty remarkable selection of what I call man-jewells. I'm not a flashy person so I've always struggled with certain menswear accesory trends over the years. However, these Foundwell pieces have an element of distinction while still being masculine and timeless. They also have a touch of vintage and a certain 20's art deco vibe, which I love.
It's also about this time of the year when I add new pieces to my denim collection. I take my jeans very seriously because I wear denim every day so I need excellent quality and a great fit. Nudie is, together with Acne, my favourite brand and also I love the classic look and finish of these black Margiela ones.
You can click on the links below the image to shop all the items.
This week Mr P also released their latest issue of the journal, featuring a story with Chace Crawford – the jock turned businessman Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl. I love the entire shoot and the styling, which is all about velvet, my favourite texture for the holidays. You can see and shop the whole story here.

Long live the polo
I'm not the biggest fan of the summer. People say I'm a freak but, quite honestly, I get tired of wearing shorts and t-shirts in a heartbeat. And the fact that you're always feeling sticky definitely doesn't help. The main clothing item that gets me smoothly through summer is the polo shirt. I love the fact that is not as flowy as a t-shirt but not as stiff as a shirt and the fact that the collar and the sleeve trimming offer something different. Throughout the years I've tried all kinds of polo shirts —I was a Lacoste boy all the way in my teenage years, I then moved on to Polo Ralph Lauren to eventually be contented by Uniqlo. Lacoste has the best designs and I still love the little crocodile logo but the quality of the material was disproportionate to the price. Ralph Lauren's quality was much better but the cotton on the collar always felt too soft and I hate the fact that Americans have the need to add that longer flat at the back of a man's top. Uniqlo, on the other hand, has the perfect mixture of a classic design that fits well, a good quality and very good price and a ridiculous amount of colours and designs.
