Most Stylish of the Week: All about Ermenegildo Zegna

MSOTW28Apr

After last week's strict editing, I decided to indulge myself for today's post and only cut down the list of most stylish guys down to nine.
It was definitely a week monopolised by the great style of Ermenegildo Zegna. Daniel Henney, Chris Hemsworth and Tyler Atkins were in Sidney for Ermenegildo Zegna's Wool Trophey, which culminated in a big fashion show. All three guys trusted the Italian house to dress them in their finest fashion, which resulted in three superb fashion moments, all in their own particular style. My favourite, I must admit, was Aitken's clay number. The loose fit, printed shirt and brown accessories matched his tan and wavy blond hair perfectly – never lose the surfer dude in you, even in a suit.
Somewhere else in the world, Chris Pine also chose Ermenegildo Zegna to look classic and sharp during his press tour. This time the grey number with a slight pinstripe was paired with a classic white shirts, a subtly trendy striped tie and tan leather shoes, which I always love with a grey suit.

I tend to have a slightly odd reaction to Tom Hiddleston's looks. I think he is one of the most effortlessly elegant actors around and he always looks spotless but I often hope for something new. This week he gave us exactly that in this checked wool silk blend suit by Giorgio Armani. He paired it with a tie in the same colour palette and a white shirt. I personally love the details of the jacket – split lapel, one button.
Johannes Huebl doesn't only go out with one of the most attractive and stylish women in fashion but he also looks right on the money all the time. This week he was in Germany celebrating the opening of the latest Louis Vuitton store. The model wore a black double-chested number from the French house, which he perfectly accessorised with some blue and lilac notes on his tie and pocket square and a pair of super cool suede brown boots.
I'm happy to finally have Darren Criss on this post because his character in Glee is one of the most stylish guys on TV but his personal style tends to be a bit overdone. This week he looked great in a pair of chinos worn with a white shirt. I love the light safari jacket to go with it, which gives it a sportswear touch in contrast with the more sophisticated leather belt and penny loafers.
Sebastian Stan probably didn't care about what he was wearing, which is why he looked so cool. Few guys could pull off a sheer jersey top, which here looks great with the relaxed silhouette of the jacket. It would have been just perfect had the jeans been taken up a few inches on the bottom.
Even though this tuxedo look is getting a bit old by now Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford continues to be a great equation. I love the dotted pattern of the jacket and the more relaxed hair. And this might just be me, but a bowtie can be slouchy.

Most Stylish of the Week: Justin Timberlake's street style hit & Nicholas Hoult's Power Suits on GQ

MSOTW3mar

It could've been a quiet boring post-Oscar laziness week if it hadn't been for Timberlake and Hoult. After the Oscar attendees dazzled on the red carpet a week ago some of the younger celebrities still managed to get some attention at the award's after-parties. Such is the case of Jacob Artist, who attended the Elton John party. The dapper Glee actor worn his head-to-toe Armani black tie look like a pro – you don't need a king-size bowtie to make a statement. Taylor Lautner suited up in a stunning blue Paul Smith number, which looked very modern thanks to the slim fit and the killer toe-cap blue shoes. Justin Timberlake rocked our socks later in the week with his casual outfit. The protagonist was his knit and suede blue bomber jacket, the über-stylish silk necktie, perfect hair and Tom Ford shades.
Nicholas Hoult graced the inside pages of the latest issue of American GQ in a 'Power Suit' editorial as enviously-chic, manly and cool as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's. In the story the actor rocks some seriously tailored looks by DKNY, Tom Ford, Gucci (below, right), Giorgio Armani (below, left), Calvin Klein Collection and Dolce & Gabbana.

Most Stylish of the Week: Tom Sachs, Eddie Redmayne & The King of the North

MSOTW9FebB

Finally, some new faces of the Most Stylish of the Week!
My two favourites this week are artist and designer Tom Sachs and actor Eddie Redmayne. The first rocked a geek chic casual look at one of the New York Fashion Week kick off events this week. I am especially keen on the see-through frames and the stained cardigan. Redmayne gave lesson number 5673499 in style wearing a slim fit tweed suit and wool knit tie all from Top Man. He can do no wrong.
I loved seeing Richard Madden in some 21st century attire. The actor looks as dapper in furs, capes and leathers as the King of the North in 'Game of Thrones' as he does wearing a classic black and white evening number signed, of course, by Giorgio Armani.
David Beckham has been wearing some seriously cool outfits this week. We have seen a few more flatcap models, which he's paired with simple knits and classic coats to keep warm in icy London.
Alden Ehrenreich's burgundy suit by Albert Hammond Jr. for Confederacy is the closest anyone wearing this colour on the red carpet has been to Ryan Gosling epicness. I love the choice of tie and shoes colour.
Another newcomer, Jai Courtney, has been catching my attention a lot during his press tour for 'A Good Day to Die Hard'. He obviously has the height and the guns to look good in anything he's been choosing his tailoring very well. One of my favourites was this grey three-piece by Giorgio Armani, which he wore with a skinny burgundy tie.

A closer look at Giorgio and Emporio Armani SS13

ArmaniSS13c

Since I hardly ever get to do re-sees of my favourite menswear shows I always look forward to 'Press Day season' because I love having the chance to have a closer look at all the collections. One of the first ones was Armani this week.
I recently posted about the Emporio Armani SS13 collection, which I really enjoyed. I loved getting a feel of the amazing textiles the ultra light blazers were made of. The flecked one above was one of my favourite pieces. As were the olive green leather biker jacket and the tortoiseshell accessories, especially the monk strap shoes.
The Giorgio Armani line was even more exquisite. There is a real sense of modernity and expected uses and combinations of materials but the cuts are classically Armani. I could have easily taken the whole collection of blazers home with me. They have the most beautiful prints and textures you could wish for summer. Some of my other highlights were the leather lined double-chested trench coat, the croc lace-up shoes and the incredible travel bags and carry-ons.

Giorgio Armani dresses Bruce Wayne

Christian Bale- Bruce Wayne MTM label
Even though I am still in awe of how good a Spidey Andrew Garfield made I have always been and always will be a much bigger Batman fan. The spider is very witty but I'll choose slick over wit any day of the week. And Batman's got plenty of that.
The Dark Knight trilogy is coming to an end in about 3 days (it's released on July 20th in the UK) and it's doing so in style. Just as he did for the first instalment of the trilogy Giorgio Armani has collaborated with Lindy Hemmig, the film's costume designer, to create Bruce Wayne's wardrobe. It seems only logical when you consider Mr Armani has dressed some of the slickest, most elegant characters of the last couple of decades including Richard Gere in 'American Gigolo', George Clooney in 'Ocean's Thirteen' or Justin Timberlake in 'The Social Network'.
It's fantastic how Armani has always remained true to their classic roots and yet they manage to keep their finger on the pulse of what is going on in film, music and sport. And I love the fact that every jacket designed for a character has its own unique tag – you might remember Armani also dressed Ethan Hunt in the latest 'Mission Impossible' movie. I am no superhero but a man can dream of having his name embroidered inside an Armani jacket. And Giorgio Armani for Iñaki Carvajal has a cool ring to it, right?

Check out 'The Dark Knight Rises' trailer here. Armani has also dressed Gary Oldman, Michael Kane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (!!) and even Anne Hathaway in his stylish designs for the film.

Giorgio Armani for Ethan Hunt

If only one could be Tom Cruise... Because being a movie star and married to the lovely Katie Holmes is not enough Tom Cruise is also the lucky one to have Giorgio Armani design an exclusive suit for him. or rather, Ethan Hunt, the Mission Impossible character that he made famous is the lucky one. For the premiere of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in Dubai tonight, Tom Cruise will be wearing this super suave midnight blue tuxedo custom made by Giorgio Armani.
I am not only sharing this because I am green with envy or because I absolutely love the design but also because I find Giorgio Armani's way of sharing his sketched in the form of illustrations incredibly cool!

PS. In case you were wondering, Cruise will also be wearing Giorgio Armani to the premieres in London, Paris and New York after today.

FW11: Micro-trends to have a laugh

I have been quite bad at keeping up with FW10 shows on Fashion, Frankly. But I have every intention of making up for my big absence during the men's fashion weeks. First up is my compilation of the funniest micro-trends from the season. I will be back with more posts about my favourite looks, the collections I loved the most and, of course, a list of the trends that will dictate fashion rules next winter.
