Shopping for Fair Isle jumpers inspired by Michael Polish

MichaelPolishFairIsle

It's not easy for my brain to be distracted when Kate Bosworth is in sight. That being said, her boyfriend's husband's cardigan choice this week managed to do just that – for a couple of minutes anyway. Michael Polish kept his look classic and fuss-free but injected a bit of FW13 flavour by means of his fair isle shawl-collar cardigan. This is one of the best graphic motifs for us men to introduce patterns without risking being loud (unless your fair isle is bright red, which is only allowed for a week during Christmas) and it adds a nice subtle vintage flavour. These below are some of my favourite choices I found online.

Marni's Exclusive Capsule Collection for Mr Porter

MarnixMrPorter

Today Mr Porter unveils their latest exclusive capsule collection, this time with Marni. The collection constsists on six pieces – a crew-neck jumper, a cardigan and a backpack in two colour variations. One with dashes of blue and one of red. The inspiration is, of course, found in the 70's. More specifically in sport kits – think of a sporty style from the slopes translated into après-ski.
My personal favourites are the jumpers – the one with the red! – but I love how all the pieces are at once modern, timeless and so very Marni. Shop the whole collection here.

How to do Smart Casual in the Summer, by Chris Pine

SmartCasualChrisPine

Chris Pine is one of the few celebrities who understands that when it comes to being stylish the key is in simplicity and attention to detail. After the more dressed up hits we saw during his 'Star Trek' press tour this latest look is very refreshing. The actor nailed the so-called 'smart casual' at a recent press conference, where he wore a light beige knit jumper as a top. He tucked it into his dark cropped slim chinos and a nice pair of brown leather lace-up shoes – it's the footwear that throws the look more towards smart. A pair of New Balance or Vans sneakers would have given it a cool feel but a much more dressed-down one.
This is a great outfit idea for a day when you want your look to translate nicely from day to evening-wear. And these are a few options of similar items currently available online:

Shopping for Spring Knits at Mr Porter

MrPknits

After these two weeks of crazy cold, during which I've enjoyed wearing my new shearling jacket, it's time to start planning the new purchases for the Spring wardrobe. Despite my best efforts, I didn't manage to get many new jumpers this winter, so I need a few new ones now.
I wear my leather jacket pretty much everyday in the Spring so I like mixing things up with cotton knitwear and lightweight scarves. I am loving all the texture Mr Porter is offering this week – subtle colours and a quiet graphicness.
