Update your Bomber Jacket this Summer with some Shine like Miles Teller

Bomber jackets are here to stay. Even though we're early into the SS16 season it's undeniable they've become an essential piece to everyone's wardrobe. They first had their comeback little over a year a go in their original canvas and jersey fabrics, which were often seen in black and navy. A few months later, with a few thousand more people in their pocket, nylon styles in black and burgundy seemed to be the most popular. However, the clear winner of the bomber jacket popularity contest is khaki – if you keep an eye out for them on the street you'll undoubtedly count them by the dozens.

I have been collecting bombers in all fabrics and colours over the past couple of years – grey jersey, burgundy canvas, navy faux-suede, tan suede and khaki nylon. It's fair to say I am well-covered but there is nothing I enjoy less than wearing the same pieces as everyone else. That's why I am fast jumping on the next bomber jacket trend-wagon, which some celebrities  – Justin Bieber, Miles Teller (pictured above), Jake Gyllenhaal – are already sporting. The 'shiny bomber' is harder to pull off as it's more of a statement. However, when choosing the material and colours correctly, it's a great off-beat way to approach the ubiquitous trend. You should aim for satin styles as the shine feels more natural (no sunglasses required) but there are a bunch of great synthetic choices if, like me, you don't fancy robbing a bank.

Tod's launches strongest Sneaker Collection to date with an exclusive Pop-Up shop at Harrods

Earlier this week I stopped by Harrod's menswear department to take a look at the recently launched Tod's sneaker-dedicated pop up shop. The pop-up, which will remain open at the men's shoe salon on the lower ground floor until April 22nd, focuses on Tod's newly expanded sneaker range.

As well as new colour ways and fabrications on their existing models the brand has introduced a handful of new styles to cover all wardrobe needs. Tod's has always excelled at marrying the smart and the casual so that their pieces can easily transition from day to evening/work to play.

Whether modern slip-ons, running inspired shoes or off-duty sneakers the entire collection has received the Tod's treatment by way of the most beautiful leathers and suedes making every piece the perfect understated gem for this upcoming season.

Hard as it was to make a choice, I came home with a pair of the perforated Nubuk slip-ons in taupe (pictured above) – I am positive I will wear nothing but this summer. If you hurry Tod's will be offering their personalisation service for the sneaker range at their Harrod's Pop-up Shop until tomorrow, Saturday 9th.

UNIQLO and Lemaire SS16

It's been a while since I got excited about a designer's collaboration with a high street retailer. It looks like only UNIQLO refined the recipe for success after their hit-after-hit run with Jil Sander, which explains the instant success of the collaboration launched with Lemaire for the FW15 season.
The Japanese retail giant announced that the partnership will continue for the forthcoming SS16 season with the new UNIQLO and Lemaire collection launching exclusively online on March 4th and worldwide in stores on March 18th.

The new collection brings together two of my favourite style influences – the 60's and sportswear. The French brand continues to combine their clean and streamlined silhouettes with sportswear detailing by playing with buttons, pockets and volume. The colour palette – faded ginger, mahogany, and the brand's signature optic white, navy and khaki – touches on the preppy side of the 60's and sits so well with the clean lines of the tailored pieces.

ASOS Spring/Summer 2016 Look Book

Season after season ASOS never fails to deliver an on-point selection of the season's trends and staples pieces and SS16 is no different. Today the online giant released their look book for the upcoming season showcasing everything from the dominating neutral colour palette to the ubiquitous new silhouettes and layering from street wear that have become such strong influences for menswear.

Bomber jackets and oversized shapes continue going strong and they do so in colours and fabrics that pull them away from sportswear and into more refined territory. Dusty shades of brighter colours help break up the combination neutral colours – khaki, ecru and nude. (Check out my review of Calvin Klein SS16, which got this so right) Unwashed and acid washed denim are key for the season, especially in cropped looser shapes or with unfinished hemlines.

The new season's collection will start dropping online in early 2016 and you know I am a firm believer in getting your hands on pieces early so get those which lists going.

Wardrobe Goals: The Calvin Klein SS16 Collection

While it's easy to always find pieces one likes from almost every fashion show it is quite rare to like every single thing coming down the runway from beginning to end. And that's exactly what happened to me while I sat at the Calvin Klein show in Milan today.
The collection, as it often does, concentrated on colour with a basic palette of black, white, khaki and light blue washed denim. It stayed true to the brand's minimalist aesthetic but it did so departing from the tougher boxier silhouettes we had been seeing lately. And yet it retained just the perfect dose of structure – especially in the jackets and trousers.
A few key styles really stood out for me. Firstly, this season's ubiquitous denim jacket, which Italo Zucchelli envisioned every so slightly cropped, with a little volume but still fairly slim and presented in its classic light blue wash, the perfect shade of beige-meets-camel and navy.
T-shirts are not usually something I notice much, especially printed ones. However, the brand's palm tree model had this crispness to it that made the fabric fall in a different way making the basic staple more interesting.
Last but most definitely not least, the trousers in two main shapes: A classic suit pant a bit cropped and cuffed. The untraditional fabric makes for a truly versatile piece as they can be worn both as part of a suit and as a casual pant. The second shape takes the first further with cargo pockets also making it a rather interesting proposal as cargo pants are more often than not presented with looser/slouchier fit.

An excellent collection from the first to the last look and proof that consistency and austerity can also be extremely modern and luxe.
