Most Stylish of the Week: Josh Duhamel in Dolce & Gabbana and Jamie Campbell-Bower in Alexander McQueen

BDOTW25Aug

After all the crazy One Direction-related action happening this week I am actually quite disappointed that none of the boys have made it onto this week's Most Stylish of the Week – apart form Harry's Burberry moment, which I won't repost. It has been a pretty quiet week otherwise.
Josh Duhamel, which appears on the blog for the first time, looked great in his burgeondark-merlot Dolce & Gabbana one-button notched-lapel suit. He wore it with a teal-blue shirt, blue-and-merlot pocket square and black lace-up shoes. It's the unusual colour combination that keeps it modern.
Even though I feel like this amazing wool double-chested suit belongs in the Fall/Winter season I really liked how it looked on Aaron Paul. Even the baggy fit works for me. I love the casual leather shoes and the micro-print blue tie.
It seems like Jamie Campbell Bower wearing Alexander McQueen is always a recipe for success. The actor wore the super classic black and white tailoring combo in his usual edgy way – this way also with a neck piece instead of a tie and his awesome hair.

Most Stylish of the Weekend: Ryan Reynolds In Gucci, that's all

MSOTW2Jun

As of Saturday, the choices I had for MSOTW were a little on the dull side, like a sort of Cannes hangover. Luckily, Gucci came to save the day with their Chime for Change concert in London, which brought a few stylish guys who donned the brand.
My favourite look of the week is Ryan Reynolds blue number. His Gucci leather jacket crowns a very modern and very well-balanced smart casual look in electric blues with tan leather notes from the accessories. It was simply perfect from fit to execution but then again, Ryan always is.
John Legend also went for a Gucci number. It was, in fact, one of my favourite Gucci pieces of the season, which we saw on Mr Hudson back in March. I love this tie-less take with a simple white shirt as it allows the suit to be the protagonist.
After last week's epic Gucci moment, Bradley Copper toned it down a little in Paris looking chic in a Vivienne Westwood checked suit, which he wore with his versatile leather Oxford shoes.

Even though in his head Orlando Bloom thinks he looks ace all the time, outside of his head we see him a more of a slob dresser (who wears Rick Owens and Balenciaga). But the guy cleans up well. For his Cannes appearance the actor rocked a skinny-lapelled tux paired with a white shirt and bow tie. This isn't a ground-breaking style option but seeing as most guys always go for black and white I found it modern and refreshing.
Aaron Paul got married last week and looked great in his midnight blue tux (by Prada?) with black silk details. I wouldn't have gone for a colour like this for a non-evening event but, hey, it's nice to see a man not sticking to the boring and traditional.
I have never had anything against dreadlocks but some people look better without them. Such is the case of Glee's Samuel Larsen. He had been rocking the hairstyle for quite some time so I was happy to see him try something completely new channelling a bit of his inner hypster and it works!
I would never in a million years wearn an outfit like this but I am not Brad Pitt (in case you were wondering). The actor went for his usual effortless all-black look at the London premiere of 'World War Z'. his hair is longer, the goatee greyer and the sunglasses shinier. No one else in the world can pull this off. Period.

Most Stylish of the Week: Eddie Redmayne's Double Hit

This week we only have the international premieres of 'Les Miserables' to thank for the greatest moments of menswear style. Eddie Redmayne, who is no stranger to Fashion, Frankly,  had two major hits this week. The first, in a deep electric blue suit by Alexander McQueen paired with a statement pocket square and a brown checked tie and the second, in a black Thom Browne suit – you can buy the blazer here – worn with the perfect bowtie. Even though I would normally gravitate towards the statement colour of the first I'd say the second look is the winner. The slim silhouette of the suit suits Eddie's tall and slim build and feels a lot more contemporary.
I'm happy to include Aaron Paul again this week because I love his cool take on the bowtie but also because I recently started watching 'Breaking Bad' and even though he kills it with his performance his rapper style drives me crazy. So it's nice to see him looking fly.
My last favourite this week is Pharrell Williams, one of the few men who can pull off a shot camo tux without even trying. His Moncler Gamme Bleu number would have been out of season in most scenarios but he was in Miami for Art Basel, so it works. I particularly loved the touch the green suede shoes and their golden details added to the look.

Most Stylish of the Weekend: Aaron Paul wears Prada to the Emmys

MSOTW28Sept
I did not stay up to watch the Grammys last Sunday but I probably should have. When I did watch them the night after I realised how excited I actually get about television awards. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that approximately 40% of my week is spent watching American TV shows.
The best (style) surprise of the night was how dapper Jimmy Fallon looked in his tux. I haven't been able to ID the designer yet – it's a lot harder than with a dress, as you might imagine – but it was perfectly tailored for him, that was evident. I might spend some time and words trying to explain everything this tuxedo did for Jimmy and how this is proof that tailoring is a man's best friend but GQ did it first and much better so just read their's here.
Aaron Paul was one of the big winners of the night. He was one of the few gents at the event who actually stood out. His brown kid mohair shawl collar tuxedo, white smoking popeline shirt, beige bowtie with a matching pocket square and brown spazzolato oxfords were so refreshing against everyone's traditional tuxes. And who was it by? Prada, of course.
Probably feeling a little envy after seeing these two guys, Justin Timberlake wore a double-chested tuxedo later this week. It's true that it's not hard for him to look good in pretty much anything but I like the tieless element of the look and the sartorial if somewhat flamenco choice of the polka dot pocket square.

This week's Best Grooming goes to Leonardo DiCaprio, or rather to Jordan Belfort, the character he plays in Martin Scorsese's latest film 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. Leo has been spotted looking mighty fine in a darker and slicker hairdo than we're used to from him. Hopefully this is just the beginning of another brilliantly styled movie following in the footsteps of Bud Fox.
