The Quest to find Mike Ross' Ties Comes to an End

Back in November I embarked on a quest to find the beautifully modern single-diagonal-stripe ties that the character Mike Ross wears on the TV show 'Suits'. It has been a long long quest – though, to be fair, I have a day job so I can't say I lost hours of sleep for this – but it has now come to an end.
After spotting Dave Franco earlier this week in a colour-block skinny tie didn't recognise or could find I decided I would try once again to find the (goddamn) ties. Luckily, the good gods of fashion smiled down on me and reminded me of The Tie Bar, the only online store I had never checked for the ties. And that was, of course, where I found them. And in abundance.
The Tie Bar is one of American GQ's go-to shops for neck attire and accessories so it's no wonder the stylists over at at the show went to them as well. I recommend you check out the store in general – they also do my favourite tie bars (duh!) in the world.
And my luck didn't end there, I even found an exact match for another of Mike Ross' ties worn in one of the last episodes we've seen in the current season. It's a Rag & Bone skinny black model with two ultra thin white and grey stripes across and it's available at Nordstrom.

Dave Franco wears a SS13 Must: The Dolce & Gabbana SS13 Shirt

DaveFrancoD&G

Dave Franco covers the new issue of Wonderland – out tomorrow – as part of his promo tour for the film 'Warm Bodies'. The actor looks super fly wearing some of the new SS13 trends. My favourite is his shot in one of my favourite striped shirts from the Dolce & Gabbana SS13 collection.
Some of the new shirt models are already available online in preparation for the spring. My favourite so far are the burgundy number with the spotty micro print and the silk model with the geometric print. Such a cool way to keep your outfits interesting and staying fresh!

On a quest to find Mike Ross' Ties

MikeRossTies1

I first fell in love with this type of ties a while back when I saw this look on Ryan Gosling. I am not the biggest fan of diagonal-striped ties but I find them really interesting when there's only one across or when they're scattered asymmetrically. I went a little crazy trying to find a similar version online but I couldn't and so I gave up.
But again at the end of the summer I was reminded of the tie while I watched the latest season of Suits. Mike Ross sports several models like this in the show. I suspected they were by Thom Browne – who wouldn't with that colour combination, right? – but I seemed to be wrong. So I am making this post out of sheer despair asking for help. Putting a 'Have you seen this tie?' on the side of a milk carton seemed melodramatic. So, please, if you know of any ties like this let me know below on the comments section or on Twitter.
These below are seemingly close (in concept) to what I am looking for. The first two are nice but a tad too boring for me and the third is the perfect stripe design (by Thom Browne) but not the right distribution.

Dolce & Gabbana SS13: Moltissimo Sicily

Dolce&GabbanaSS13 Warning: This collection might give you an irrepressible need to want to spend the rest of your summer in Sicily. If you decided to continue reading, for better results, click here and play while reading.
Dolce & Gabbana was the first show I attended in Milan this season and I was extremely excited about it because it was my first. The traditional runway space at the Metropol had been stripped down from al decorations. Only at the back, a little piece of Sicilian landscape served as decoration – very old school. As everyone took their seats and the lights dimmed, a traditional Naples folk band lifted the mood with a Tarantella Napoletana (which you should be listening to from the link above).
For the casting, Domenico and Stefano had chosen mostly non-models and had instead gone finding teenagers and young kids from around Sicily. There was something so charmingly authentic about it. The collection found inspiration in the Sicilian 50's. A young boy would wear his brother's hand-me-downs – trousers might be too short, or too wide but they would make it work.
It might be because I come from a similar Mediterranean culture but I was actually quite moved by this collection that was almost romantic. It reminded me slightly of one of my favourite Dolce & Gabbana collections ever – their FW10 Baarìa-inspired ultra-sober yet full of sentiment line.

Dolce&GabbanaSS13b The striped pieces were one of my personal highlights. It's like this iconic Mediterranean symbol that went from being the mark of fishermen to a mainstream clothing reference to a high fashion motif. And I feel like this collection kind of brought together all the different connotations of stripes. In SS13 we will be wearing them from the most casual t-shirt, to the vintage shirt and the more contemporary shorts and cropped trousers.

Take a look below at my video from the finale – please excuse the untimely blurriness. My camera is very temperamental. You can see the full runway show here.

I want a striped Prada wash bag

Having a look at some of the sales of online retailers I came across these two Prada wash bags. If I'm totally honest I don't care much about where I put my toothbrush when I travel. However, it never hurts to keep every single detail in your life a little stylish, right?
I'm especially keen on the second one because I guess I could also use it as a pencil case or to keep whatever I need to take anywhere. The first one in the pictures is sold out at Far Fetch but the second one has a 50% discount, which is pretty good!
