The Varsity Jacket of Dreams, by Harry Stedman

A few weeks ago, totally by chance, I discovered Harry Stedman – a London-based contemporary menswear brand founded in 2011. The brand takes elements and silhouettes both from England and from across the Atlantic, especially from the 60's and 50's, and brings them to the 21st century. Or as the brand very well puts it: "We respectfully look to the past to inform our designs". Their attention to detail and to high quality makes their pieces understated (everyday) luxury by definition.
I also recently had the chance to have a closer look at the collection and if anything it enhanced my enthusiasm for the brand. Take one of my favourite pieces, the Slim Fit Varsity Jacket. Unlike many of the styles we have been seeing for the last couple of seasons, Harry Stedman's version present what is (to me, anyway) the most contemporary of upgrades – fit. Brands and designers continue to play with materials, colours and embellishments but not many thought of restructuring the original fit – a baggier silhouette that Stedman also offers but which is nowadays much too vintage.
I simply can't recommend Harry Stedman's products enough. Not just their impeccable outerwear but their sharp shirts too. I, for one, have put this varsity jacket at the top of my Christmas list.
