J.W. Anderson for Mr Porter

JWforMrPorter on Make A Gif

In only a few years J.W. Anderson has gone from the one-to-watch at London Fashion Week and the London Collections: Men, to the cult designer everyone ones to wear, which subsequently landed him the role as creative director of Spanish powerhouse Loewe. He will show his first collection for them in only a few weeks for which he will undoubtedly be praised.
Before that time comes, Mr Porter is launching an exclusive capsule collection of 8 pieces available on their site from today. What really makes it great for me is the fact that it brings together all the elements that make the designer so great – his eye for detail on the most classic tailoring, the iconicity of his hugely recognised brand and the elements of innovation in textiles that have become a staple. You can shop the entire collection here.

J.W. Anderson channels some Marc Jacobs (the person, not the brand)
for his SS13 collection

The first London Collections: Men closed yesterday evening after three days full of only London menswear fashion. It was quite amazing to see, even though I didn't really go to any shows, how excited everyone was. At the James Long show on Saturday it felt just like any other established fashion week. I loved that.
J.W. Anderson kicked off the day yesterday. He is probably the most interesting menswear London designer. I have been to his shows in the past and you know as models walk down the runway that what you're seeing has never done before.
His SS13 collection was bold. Bold as the statement that Marc Jacobs made on the runway of this year's Met Ball. In fact, Anderson showed three looks composed of a lace shirt and trousers that seemed to be the male equivalent of Jacobs' outfit – only much much better constructed.

You can see the rest of the collection and read the review here.

J.W. Anderson SS12: Another hit!

Last season's London Fashion Week gave us the treat of a double dose of J.W. Anderson. Having presented his SS12 womenswear line a few days earlier, the designer showed his first menswear collection amongst a lot of hype.
Everyone waiting to enter the intimate venue seemed to be really excited with what we were about to see.
And Anderson didn't disappoint. The collection was in line with the womenswear one but it stood on its own. My personal favourite were the futuristic paisley fabrics in shorts, vests and t-shirts. I was blown away by the leather work. Geometric leather panels came together creating more complex geometric patterns that end up becoming a sleeveless top or a skirt. Even more impressive were the interwoven leather techniques, which combined with the amazing tailored trousers created very interesting looks very much in line with the season's luxury sportswear trend.
Check out the whole collection here and watch my video of the finale above.
